Hello All!!
Amy here, currently I am a senior at Iowa State Studying Biological Pre-Medical Illustration. What does that mean you ask? Well, that means that I am studying both science and art at the same time, often using art as a means to explain the science in front of me.
I am currently working at Reiman Gardens as a gardener and intern. Outside I do a lot of work with plants, dirt, grass and snow. As an intern I am working in the butterfly department creating images to be used as resources in a identification app. I am also working with the horticultural department to document several of the species that have been introduced by Iowa State faculty.
In my work you will see an array of techniques, ranging from traditional to digital, and subject matter. When approaching a scientific subject I aim to accurately depict the specimen and document the important characteristics.
The scribbled drawings are my newest endeavor. Borne out of a class project for a figure drawing class, I have continued on the series. Each piece is comprised of many colored lines that create a sense of form and depth. The  two-toned lighting set up makes my part more fun and the final piece compelling.
